CurlyRoots gathers the addresses, zip codes, emails, telephone numbers and social media URLs of stylists that specialize in afro-textured hair. We collect this information via opt-in lists, social media sign ups, email sign ups, direct applications from stylists and recommendations from the general populace
We may store the information you submit to or through the Site. We use the information to fulfill your requests, provide site functionality, improve site quality, personalize your experience, provide feedback to the stylists and businesses listed on the site, message you, track usage of the site, display relevant advertising, provide customer support, message you, back up our systems, allow for disaster recovery, enhance the security of the site and comply with legal obligations.
Direct access to our contact database is limited to the CurlyRoots team and we do not share or sell our contact database with third parties.
If you wish to verify, change or remove your information from the CurlyRoots database, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Depending on which Curly Roots services you choose to use, we may require information such as stylist name, billing and payment information, (including billing address, telephone number, credit card information), a telephone number, and/or a physical postal address.
CurlyRoots may contact individual stylists and businesses to confidentially request more information about stylists for skills listed on the Site, to ensure compliance with our rules.
Your username, CurlyRoots ID or alias is publicly displayed and connected to your CurlyRoots activity. Other people may see your date joined, profile information,skills listed, profile pages, and comments in community spaces.
CurlyRoots may receive or collect information (for example: an email address) about a person who is not yet a registered CurlyRoots member (a “non-member”) in connection with certain CurlyRoots features, including but not limited to: a non-member subscribing to a CurlyRoots newsletter, a member inviting a non-member to visit the Site, Non-member information is used only for the purpose it was originally submitted to CurlyRoots. A non-member can contact email@example.com if they do not want CurlyRoots to retain their information.
CurlyRoots uses the information described in this policy to provide and improve our services and products, for billing and payments, for identification and authentication, for targeted online marketing, to contact members or interested parties, and for general research and aggregate reporting. Account Registration: You must provide a valid email address, and choose a username or alias that may represent your identity in order to sign up for an account on curlyroots.com.
We may store and use your name or screen name, email address, zip code. Any information you may provide with your account, including any photos you submit through the registration process, may be publicly displayed as part of your account profile. Your uploaded photos may be used by CurlyRoots for the promotion of your styling skills and the promotion of the CurlyRoots website. You can modify some of the information associated with your account from your profile page. If you feel that an unauthorized account has been created depicting you or your likeness, you can request its removal at firstname.lastname@example.org
In addition, you may provide us with your full name. When you sign up for a CurlyRoots account, You are opted in to receive emails from CurlyRoots We do not publish your email address for other users and business owners. Note that you cannot opt out of receiving required administrative or legal notices. If you feel that an unauthorized account has been created depicting you or your likeness, you can request its removal here.
Public Content: Your information, videos, photos and other content you post to the Site are meant for public consumption. We may display this content on the Site, and further distribute it to a wider audience through third party sites and services. We reserve the right to remove any information, text, pictures, media we wish at any time for any reason
Contacts: You can invite your friends to join the Site by providing their contact information, or by allowing us to use your address book from your computer, mobile device, or other sites. If you invite a friend to join and connect with you on the Site, we may use and store your friends’ contact information long enough to process your requests.
Communications: When you sign up for an account, you are opting in to receive emails from other CurlyRoots users, stylists, and CurlyRoots itself. You can manage your email preferences by contacting CurlyRoots Administration, but note that you cannot opt out of receiving certain administrative or legal notices from CurlyRoots. If you exchange messages with others through the Site, we may store them in order to process and deliver them, allow you to manage them, and investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the Site.
If you send information from the Site to your phone via SMS text message, we may log your phone number, phone carrier, and the date and time that the message was processed. Carriers may charge recipients for texts that they receive.
Messaging: If you exchange messages with others through the Site, we may store these messages in order to deliver them and allow you to manage them. Transactions and Credit Card Purchases: If you purchase business advertising, Deals, or other CurlyRoots products or services online, we may collect and store certain information about you to process your requests and populate forms for future transactions (namely: Name, Phone Number, Address, Email and Credit Card information). This information will only be shared with third parties who perform tasks required to complete the purchase transaction (such as fulfilling orders and processing credit card payments). When you submit credit card numbers, we encrypt that information using industry standard technology.
Site Activity: We may store information about your use of the Site, such as your search activity, the pages you view, the date and time of your visit, and the businesses you call using our mobile applications. We also may store information that your computer or mobile device provides to us in connection with your use of the Site, such as your browser type, type of computer or mobile device, browser language, IP address, mobile carrier, unique device identifier, location, and requested and referring URLs.

On occasion, CurlyRoots will contact you. Primarily, messages are delivered by email or by push notifications, and every account is required to keep a valid email address on file to receive messages. In some situations, CurlyRoots may contact you by telephone, SMS message or physical mail in order to provide you with customer support or to provide you with information about products and features you may find of interest. You may update your contact preferences by contacting us
Some messages from CurlyRoots are service-related and required for members. Examples of service-related messages include, but are not limited to: a welcome/confirmation email when you register your account, notification of an order, or correspondence with CurlyRoots’s support team. These messages are not promotional in nature. You may not opt-out of receiving service-related messages from CurlyRoots, unless you close your account.
As a member, CurlyRoots may also send you messages related to certain features or your activity on the Site or Apps. CurlyRoots may also send you news or updates about changes to our Site, Apps, or services. By default, members will receive these messages via email
CurlyRoots offers optional email newsletters. When you register for an account, or choose to subscribe, you will receive newsletters from us. Newsletters are available to both members and non-members. Members may subscribe or unsubscribe from optional newsletters under your account settings or by following the instructions contained in the newsletter emails.
Non-members may subscribe by providing an email address, which will only be used by CurlyRoots for these newsletters. Non-members may unsubscribe from newsletters by following the instructions contained in the newsletter emails.
CurlyRoots is both a resource and a community. We offer several features that allow members to connect and communicate via messages, and profile visits. Please use common sense and good judgment when posting in these community spaces or sharing your personal information with others on CurlyRoots. Be aware that any personal information you submit there can be read, collected, or used by others, or could be used to send you unsolicited messages.
In addition to the information you submit to or through the Site, we also collect and store information from and about you in the course of your use of the Site. We use this information to analyze and track user behavior, personalize your experience, associate it with other information about you, provide the functionality and improve the quality of the Site, and may use it to display relevant advertising. For example:
Location: We may collect and store information about your location if you enable your computer or mobile device to send us location information. You may be able to change the settings on your computer or mobile device to prevent it from providing us with such information.
Activity: We may collect and store information related to you and your use of the Site, such as your browser type, IP address, unique device identifier, the phone numbers and names of businesses that you call through the Site, requested URL, referring URL, browser language, the pages you view, and the date and time of your visit.

Links: The Site may contain links to unaffiliated third party websites. Except as set forth herein, we do not share your personal information with them, and are not responsible for their privacy practices. We suggest you read the privacy policies on all such third party websites.
Other users may be able to identify you, or associate you with your user account if you include personal information in your Public Content. Users can also use the Member Search feature to find one another based on their names or email addresses.
Please also note that the messages you send or receive using the Site are only private to the extent that you and the sender/recipient keep them private. For example, we do not have any control over whether a recipient of one of your personal messages publicly posts it or its contents.
The Site is intended for general audiences and is not directed to children under 14. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 14. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information without parental consent, please contact us. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information without parental consent, we take steps to remove such information and terminate the child’s account.
We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the personal information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or via mobile device, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
